제3회 아마도 사진상 공모

아마도 예술공간에서는 2016년도 제3회 아마도 사진상을 공모합니다. 아마도 사진상은 만 40세 미만의 국내 및 아시아 국적의 작가를 대상으로 하는 국제 사진 공모전 입니다. 사진의 발명 이후 170여 년의 시간 동안 사진은 예술의 중요한 매체로 자리잡게 되었습니다. 과거의 사실성과 기록성을 근간으로 성립된, ‘현실의 재현’ 이라는 20세기 사진의 개념은 동시대에 전혀 다른 새로운 패러다임으로 확장/ 발전되고 있습니다. 디지털 테크놀로지의 발달은 사진작업에 있어서 이미지의 변형, 왜곡, 조합, 복제를 통해 작가의 제작방식에 영향을 줄 뿐 아니라 현실 세계를 새롭게 직조하여 작가만의 언어로 세상을 재현해 냄으로써 디지털 사진의 매체적 성격을 더욱 확장시키고 있습니다. 그리고 디지털 테크놀로지로 상징되는 전자복제 및 새로운 재현방식의 등장은 사진의 개념을 근본적으로 재검토하게 하였으며, 그것의 확장된 의미에 대한 고찰을 필요로 하게 되었습니다.

이처럼 사진이 처한 여러 상황에 반응하기 위해 제정된 아마도 사진상은 사진의 개념을 근본적으로 재검토하고, 더 나아가 순수미술이라는 범주 안에서 사진이 가진 의미를 확장하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 새로운 환경 속에서 아마도 사진상은 작가들에게 자신만의 사진언어를 실험하고, 개발하며, 디지털 테크놀로지로 인해 발전하는 사진의 확장된 의미를 탐구하고자 합니다.

◇모집개요

① 공모명: 아마도 사진상

② 공모부문: 사진 및 사진과 복제성을 기반으로한 디지털 미디어

③ 대상: 만 40세 미만의 국내 및 아시아 국적의 작가

④ 선정인원: 1 명

⑤ 총 예산:

-1만 U.S달러(한화 약 1000만원 – 작품제작비와 작가 상금을 포함)

-그 외 도록, 인쇄물, 장소 제공 등 지원

◇공모 목적

① 아시아 시장을 대상으로 하는 국제 사진 공모전 개최

② 21세기 디지털 테크놀로지로 상징되는 전자복제 및 재현방식의 등장으로 사진 개념에 대한 근본적인 재검토

③ 변화, 발전하는 사진이라는 장르의 정의를 재해석하고 재정립하여 사진의 확대된 의미를 탐구하는 장 마련

◇선정방법

① 1차 심사: 포트폴리오 심사

② 2차 심사: 면접(프리젠테이션 형식)

※1차 합격자에 한하여 2차 면접 개별 공지

◇전시 일정 및 장소

① 전시 일정: 2016년 후반기 예정 (11월 예정)

② 전시 장소: 아마도 예술 공간(서울시 용산구 한남동 683-31)

③ 전시 구성: 사진상 수상 받은 작가의 개인전

The 3rd Amado Photography Award

Amado Photography Award marking its second year this year is an international photography competition for the new generation of talented Asian photographers/Artist under the age of 40 under the auspices of Amado Art Space. The purpose of opening the Amado Photography Award is to explore expanded meaning of photography by recognizing the necessity of fundamental re-examination on the concept of photography with the advent of electronic reproduction and the new reappearance method which symbolize the digital technology of 21st century, and by reinterpreting and reestablishing the significance of a genre as the changing and developing photography.

Since its beginning, Photography has established itself as an important medium for the modern world. The concept of 20th century photography as ‘representation of reality’ established on the basis of factuality and record of the past is expanding and developing into an entirely different and new paradigm in this digital era. The development of digital technology in 21st century not only makes influence on the production method of artists through variation, distortion, combination, and reproduction in terms of photography, but also controls and influences the real with the unreal, photographers/artists have been able to advance the world of modern photography and its meaning in the art world today.

Amado Photography Award therefore searches and open doors for photographers and artists to showcase the advance of photography as well as redefining and rediscovering the genre.

◇ Outline of Award:

①Title: Amado Photography Award

②Genre: Photography and Digital Media

③Target Entry: Artists focusing on mainly photography with other digital media/Artists with domestic or Asian nationality below 41 years of age.

④Number of winner: 1

⑤Winning Prize:

-10,000 U.S dollars (Including Art production fee and Prize money)

-production of catalogue, print-outs, exhibition space (Amado Art Space) will be supported.

◇Contest Objective:

①Host of Amado International photography contest with Photographers/Artists of Asian origin.

②Fundamental review of photography in the digital era of the 21st Century

③Provision of dialogues for photographers to analysis and reestablish the photographic genre of our time

◇Selection Process

①1st Process : Portfolio evaluation

②2nd Process : Interview Presentation

③Exhibition composition: Solo Exhibition of the recipient artist
