<작가소개>

이지윤는 고독과 자기인식에 대해 탐구하는 시각 예술가이다. 석고, 안료, 그리고 종이가 그녀의 조각과 설치작업의 주재료가 된다. 이번 개인전 ‘Whirlpool(소용돌이)’에서 이지윤은 2019년 핀란드 국제 창작 레지던시 프로그램에서의 작업을 선보인다.

이지윤은 차원과 차원의 괴리 그리고 나선형 소용돌이 운동을 통해 인간 자아 인식 과정의 숭고한 조건이자 4차 산업 사회의 개인성을 드러내는 ‘고독’에 주목한다. ‘고독’은 그녀에게 ‘독립’이다. ‘Solitude| Plaster, pigment, paper, wood-panel, wire | 100x78x2.5cm | 2019’에서 이지윤은 높이 개념이 없는 2차원의 세계에서 3차원매체는 절대적으로 이해받을 수 없는 존재라는 것을 이용해 수많은 관계의 속에서 개인이 느끼는 괴리감과 고독 그리고 독립성을 시각적으로 표현해낸다. ‘Whirlpool| video work(running time: 02:17) | 2019’ 영상작업은 자기볼텍스의 외부에서 내부으로 흘러들어가는 흐름을 통해 차원이바뀌는 순간을 표현하고 있다. 이지윤은 작업 과정과 함께 존재의 고독을 받아들이는 것 추구한다.

이지윤은 동국대학교 미술학부(조소전공)를 졸업하고 한국과 영국 등에서 다양한 그룹전시에 참여하며 활동하였으며, 2019년 1월 핀란드에 위치한Arteles Creative Centre에서 주최하는 Silence Awareness Existence 국제 창작 레지던시 프로그램의 참여 작가로 선정되었다.

Zhiyoon(Ji Yoon Lee) is a visual artist based in South Korea. She explores ideas of solitude and awareness of the self. Zhiyoon uses plaster, pigment and paper in her sculpture and installation-art. At this exhibition, she will present her project artworks from International Creative Residency program in Finland in 2019 in her solo show ‘Whirlpool’ in SpaceBA.

Through the alienation between two different dimensions and the vortex movement Zhiyoon is focusing on ‘Solitude’ which is one of the sublime condition of the process in human self-awareness. Solitude is independence for herself. In ‘Solitude | Plaster, pigment, paper, wood-panel, wire | 100x78x2.5cm | 2019’, Zhiyoon uses the incomprehensible fact between two-dimension and three-dimension to express the solitude, detachment and independent in the numerous contact in human relationships. In ‘Whirlpool | video work(running time: 02:17) | 2019’ she describes the moment of the dimension change with the vortex movement that flow from external to internal. Zhiyoon seeks to come to terms with the solitude of existence with her work.

Zhiyoon(Ji Yoon Lee) studied sculpture in Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea. She has taken part in group exhibitions in Seoul and London. Zhiyoon was a resident at the Silence Awareness Existence program at Arteles Creative Centre in Finland in 2019.​
