Pericles by William Shakespeare (Fri, Nov 14) 8:00 PM-10:00 PM,
College of the Holy Cross: O'Kane Hall, Fenwick Theatre - 2nd Floor, 1 College Street, Worcester, MA
In this rarely performed Shakespearean romance, a good man undeservedly loses both his wife and his daughter to the vagaries of nature and the evil of men. Devastated and altered by grief, he faces a tragic end until his fortunes are miraculously reversed. Pericles is a fairy tale about suffering and redemption that features shipwrecks, pirates, incest, corruption, an evil queen, supernatural figures and resurrections. It requires the audience to surrender cynicism and judgment and embrace the transformative possibilities of the magical and the mystical. Edward Isser directs.
