Once the basics are understood, this class will explore what it means to "see photographically" and delve into what happens visually when you steal a moment in time from a 3 dimensional world and compress it onto a two dimensional plane. The focus will be on making a photograph, not just taking a picture and what the difference is between the two. The class will take field trips to local Worcester areas to photograph specific assignments and have their work critiqued in class via screen projection, culminating with a final critique at the end of class with each students top three photographs printed and matted for presentation to the class. Students must have a 35 mm digital SLR camera with the ability to shoot in "manual" mode and a built in light meter. It is mandatory that students bring their camera manual to class.
