This course is designed for students at an intermediate to advanced level who seek time in the studio to work on individual projects. Participants will work on self-directed projects with ample assistance from the instructor when needed. The first class will focus on the safe use of equipment and group discussions about each student's proposed project. Materials not included in tuition cost.

Worcester Center for Crafts, Handbuilding Studio, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester, MA
This new class gives beginners the experience of working in two different studios at the Worcester Center for Crafts. The first 4 weeks will take place in the clay studio where students will learn techniques such as carving and stamping to create texture as well as slip and glaze application. The remaining 6 weeks will take place in the metals studio where students will embellish their ceramic pieces with metal. Metalsmithing skills such as sawing, soldering bezel setting and finishing will be presented to complete a ring and/or pendant. Material Fee covers cost of metal.
