Musicfest NW 2008: It added up to what?
September saw Portland host the 8th Musicfest NW of logistical mathematics: An exponential event of (n+1)/2 bands in xyz-yz venues over 4 nights = ? (you can only see so many anyway). Eschewing the press pass to experience the punter's experience, here are my highs and lows:

This new class gives beginners the experience of working in two different studios at the Worcester Center for Crafts. The first 4 weeks will take place in the clay studio where students will learn techniques such as carving and stamping to create texture as well as slip and glaze application. The remaining 6 weeks will take place in the metals studio where students will embellish their ceramic pieces with metal. Metalsmithing skills such as sawing, soldering bezel setting and finishing will be presented to complete a ring and/or pendant. Material Fee covers cost of metal.
